What is chaas?

Is chaas the same thing as lassi?
They start from the same place but they are not the same drink. Lassi is thicker and in most versions sweetened, often with fruit. Chaas is thin and salted, with spice rather than sugar. If you are expecting a sweet drink this is not it.
What does it taste like?
Salty and mildly sour from the culture, with cumin the flavour most people notice first. It is a savoury drink, closer to a light soup than to a milkshake.
What is in it?
