Is the patch test optional?
No, and it is the manufacturer's instruction rather than ours. Any stinging, redness, swelling or itching at the test site means the product is not used - wash it off and speak to a pharmacist.
How long do I leave it on?
Only as long as the leaflet says, timed with a clock. This is the instruction people most often stretch, and leaving it longer than stated is how skin gets burnt. If it stings badly at any point, remove it immediately with plenty of cool water rather than waiting for the timer.
Where must it not go?

What should I avoid afterwards?
