Usually a combination of sev, fried pulses or nuts, flattened rice and small shaped fried pieces, with a spice blend running through it. The actual components and their proportions are the maker's recipe and are listed on the pack.

Because the mix is the recipe. Which components go in, in what proportion, how finely the sev is drawn and how much heat the blend carries all vary by maker. There is no standard for what 'mix' means, so switching brands genuinely changes what you are eating.

Peanuts and tree nuts are common components in mixes of this kind. The allergen statement on the pack is the manufacturer's and is the only reliable answer -- which matters a great deal if you are buying for someone with a nut allergy.

That varies by brand and by batch, and it is not something this page can pin down for a particular pack. Where a maker grades their own range the pack says so. If heat matters to you, the label is the thing to read, and a small pack is a cheaper way to find out than a large one.
